New Site Checklist

While Girls on the Run provides almost everything needed to run the program, the site is required to provide the following:

  • Provide a Site Liaison - see Site Liaison Job Description
  • Provide a safe, dedicated space for running two days per week for one (1) hour 15 minutes each day. This does not have to be a track (a field is fine).  There is a need to measure off part of the area for occasions when lessons require running a certain distance; e.g., 1 mile, 5k, etc.
  • Provide a "rain day" site that is indoors or sheltered and private.  A gym or multi-purpose room space reserved for GOTR Sonoma County is preferred.
  • Provide an indoor space, such as a classroom or meeting room, where attendance is taken, girls "get on board," and leave their belongings while running.
  • Provide a restroom.
  • Determine a plan for identifying participants. Arranging an "informational meeting" for prospective girls and parents prior to registration will be necessary.
  • Identify participants and distribute registration forms to all 3rd through 5th grade girls. Each team consists of 8-15 girls. Some sites may be approved for multiple teams.
  • Provide two coaching candidates per team for your site.  Each coach will be required to attend a one day Girls on the Run training session and become First Aid and CPR certified.  Coaches must be available two afternoons per week during the program.  GOTR Sonoma County will provide assistance in identifying coaches when necessary.
  • Complete a Site Application - download here.
  • Complete a Coach Application and Background Check Form (per coach) - download Coach Application here and Background Check form here.
  • Verify support from the school principal or site director.
